MWA committee and the team players extend full gratitude to the support of everyone involved. Insha’Allah the money contributed in charity will ease the suffering of those so much less fortunate than ourselves. Mudasar Kayani, captain of the team put it best by saying “We took part, contributed to charity, gave it our best shot and above all played in great spirit enjoying the part we played”. |

Presentation at Hemel Hempstead School - 26th June 2007 |
MWA organised and delivered a presentation on Islam to the year 7 students of The Hemel Hempstead School. The presentation took place on 26th of June 2007. The discussion and information focused on The Five Pillars of Islam and was part of the Religious Education course that the school offers. The presentation was well received and the standard of questioning after the presentation was incisive. Mr Nawaz, President of the MWA said, “I thank the school and in particular Mr Kevin Norwood, Head of RE, who invited us and gave us the opportunity to address the students. Dialogue, at all levels, is a crucial part of learning more about the diverse community that we are all part of and tackling any misconceptions that ignorance can breed. Due to one of the trained presenters being unable to attend on the day and I was given the opportunity to address some of the questions after the presentation. The standard of knowledge, in particular the questions, was most surprising from such young members of the community. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning and hope we can build upon this going forward.” Mr Norwood also commented “The presentation was excellent and I extend my thanks to you [MWA] and Mr Khan again on behalf of the School and the year 7 students. The content of the presentations vary according to the audience, and are available to any other school, business or institute from the community. If you are interested in hosting a presentation please contact us at info@mwahh.org detailing aspects of information you would like to the presentation to focus on. We welcome your interest and comments. |
Makka Twin Peaks Challenge - June 2007 |
Naeem Khan vice president of the MWA participated in a fund raising event which took place at the end of June 2007. £1900 was raised and insha’Allah this will go some way in educating Islam in the UK. Details of the event; http://family.webshots.com/photo/1185535858058819444UoYUgI Mount Noor : The cave where Prophet Muhammed (SAWS) first received revelation. Mount Thawr : The cave that provided sanctuary for the Prophet (SAWS) and his companion Abu Bakr (RA). The Aim: To raise money for Ebrahim Community College . www.ebrahimcollege.org.uk Registered charity 1108141 The target was to raise a minimum of £1,500 in sponsorship for Ebrahim Community College (ECC). About ECC: ECC is not a government funded sixth form, which unfortunately requires ECC to charge its students a registration fee. This fee is heavily subsidised by the College to allow students affordable access. Unfortunately, this results in the college operating with a negative cash flow that cannot be sustained for much longer. The College currently has a deficit of a £120,000 that needs to be raised immediately. By taking part the Makkah Twin Peaks Challenge Naeem Khan
You can also share in the rewards of passing on much needed knowledge to the youth of today, to equip them with mindsets and skills that can positively improve our communities and the society. Click here to view pictures of the challenge. |
