At the physical level, yoga and its cleansing practices have proven to be extremely effective for various disorders. Yoga has positions that act upon the various joints of the body including those joints that are never really on the ‘radar screen’ let alone exercised.

Surprisingly it has been found that the body which may have been quite rigid starts experiencing a remarkable flexibility in even those parts which have not been consciously work upon. Why? It is here that the remarkable research behind yoga positions proves its mettle. Seemingly unrelated “non strenuous” yoga positions act upon certain parts of the body in an interrelated manner. When done together, they work in harmony to create a situation where flexibility is attained relatively easily.

Yoga is perhaps the only form of activity which massages all the internal glands and organs of the body in a thorough manner. By gently stretching muscles and joints as well as massaging the various organs, yoga ensures the optimum blood supply to various parts of the body. Muscles that have become flaccid, weak or slothy are stimulated repeatedly to shed excess flab and flaccidity.

Football Tournaments - September 2007

There are a couple of upcoming football tournaments that the MWA youth committee have entered into.  The first is a charity tournament organised by Interpal (charity for Palestinians in need), this tournament has already started and promises to robustly test the representation of Hemel Hempstead’s football skills.  We have two teams registered to compete in this tournament, and our scheduled day for participation is Saturday 18th September 2007 in Barnet from 11am onwards.  This is a qualifying round of 7 games that will determine if we can book a place for the finals day on 2nd September. You can find out more information here www.interpal.org/sports. We will be providing an account of how our teams did so watch this space!

The second match is a more local affair; the tournament is being organised by the police with many other schools and community organisations being involved.  It has been scheduled for Saturday 22nd September, the competition has a two-tier format with one for the youth (age limits 14-16) and the other for the adults - and we have registered 2 teams for the adult competition and one for the youth.  We are awaiting confirmation of our places alongside further details of timings for the day.  So again please watch this space.

Lastly we are organising our own MWA sports day, which will Insha’Allah be held on Saturday 8th September 2007, which will host a mini football tournament among other activities for the day.  There will be a separate notice and information surrounding this, but if you have any ideas for the day in advance please let us know asap.

If you wish to find out who is playing in these tournaments or for general information or if you have information about tournaments that you feel we could enter and/or if you would like to be involved in future competitions, please contact us at info@mwahh.org.
